Habitat for Humanity

Since 2006, we have been involved in numerous projects with Habitat for Humanity, Orange County. Habitat for Humanity of Orange County is dedicated to ending substandard housing and building strong communities in Orange County. They partner with local businesses, community organizations, faith communities, cities and volunteers to build simple decent homes which are sold to qualified families for closing costs, 1% down payment, and a long-term mortgage.

Our first project included donating the landscape design and overseeing the installation of the landscape for a home in our own neighborhood in Huntington Beach. We coordinated the plant, soil and paver deliveries, spotted the plant material and worked with numerours volunteers, including many of our fellow UCCE Master Gardeners and the homeowners to install the landscape. It was such a wonderful project and so emotionally fulfulling, we decided to continue to stay involved with all Orange County projects.

Since our first project with Habitat in Huntington Beach, we have volunteered in Placentia, Fullerton and Cypress for numerous homes. We look forward to the future builds!
